Johnny Depp in World’s End. Record breaker?
The new Pirates of the Caribbean movie was released this weekend and it has hit the boxoffice with a storm. It has the potential to be the biggest opening weekend in history but it is up against the second weekend of the new Shrek (The Third) and let us not forget Spider-Man 3 is still hanging in there as strong competition. The gorgeous Johnny Depp returns as the amusing character Captain Jack Sparrow in this very long 2 hours and 47 minute beefster. Anyway it is clearly on target to break records with $58 million in two days already. Last year’s Pirates offering opened to $135.6 million and was the biggest opening weekend in history back then, which apparently broke the previous record set only 6 weeks before that by the last X-Men movie.
